After A Teacher Wrote An Explosive Post About Bad Parenting, She Was Shell shocked By The Reaction

There comes a point in all our lives when we can’t hold our frustrations in any longer. Teacher Julie Marburger can certainly relate to that, after going viral for a Facebook post about bad parenting in March 2018.

At the time, Marburger worked at Cedar Creek Intermediate School in Texas, teaching sixth-grade English language arts. Despite having years of experience in education, her message shocked many online.

Before becoming a classroom teacher, she had worked as a parenting educator, focusing on behavioral psychology and child development. She enjoyed helping parents understand their children better. But after moving to Texas, she realized those subjects weren’t taught in local schools, so she retrained and became a middle school teacher instead.

Teaching is often seen as one of the most important jobs, guiding young people through their education and shaping their future. It can be incredibly rewarding — and for a long time, Marburger felt that way too.

Originally from Utah, she studied family and human development at Utah State University, graduating in 1996. She later worked in mental health and business before following her passion for both motherhood and education. As a mother of four daughters, she described raising her children as her greatest achievement.
